This is what the locals do when they're bored. They make mannequins, stand them along the side of the road, and get tourists to throw money in the pot so they can make more. Can you spot the dummy in the picture ? |

For those familiar with Canadian author Farley Mowat, this is his old sail boat which he wrote about in "The Boat Who Wouldn't Float". In good maritime tradition, they should give the old girl a decent burial or have a communal weenie roast with her. What a sad sight to see her in. I loved the book. |

Newfoundland Speedbumps. Probably the most common sign in the Maritimes. There are also a number of signs advising the number of moose/vehicle incidents. We never saw one in Newfoundland where they are plentiful. Estimates are 125,000 to 150,000. We did see 3 or 4 in Northern Ontario. All were dead. Biggest damn road kill you've ever seen. Sure glad it wasn't me that hit them. |

Not 5 minutes after I took the previous picture, this big bugger showed up on the side of the road. Just imaging hitting that sucker at speed. |
