I'm not sure when I first heard that Ed Rockdale and a couple of friends were thinking about making their way through my back yard on their way to Hyder, Alaska but it never takes me too long to offer my services as guide. Ed lives in Ridgecrest, California and that was a long way to come and not to see the best that we had to offer. (If I can put in a plug for British Columbia, I've ridden all of the Canadian provinces and half of the U.S. states and I still think we take second place to nobody.) Ed had three friends that he would be travelling with. Hans Von Nostiz, Dutch Highwarden, also from California, and Keith Collins from Wyoming. Sherri Pelican and I had met Ed and Hans a couple of years ago in Weaverville and had crossed paths with Keith at the NW Regional in 2000 and again just one month prior to this trip. The Musketeers were to be six this time. |

| We all made sure we were at
the Canada - U.S. border at 1:00PM. Ed, Hans, Dutch & Keith met
Sherri just south of the customs house and I was waiting for them on the
metric side.
After the usual greetings, pit stops, and map refolding, we were off into the heart of B.C. The most direct route to Prince George would be about 500 miles. Our route would be, a bit over 1100 miles. |

| The first priority seemed
to be food and a short tour of Vancouver. A leisurely loop around the
west side of the city took us along the Fraser River to its termination
in the Pacific and just around the corner was the beach at Spanish
Banks. Burgers and Cokes seemed to satisfy the group.
Ed Rockdale chows down. |

| Since rush hour was going
to get underway shortly, we hit the trail through downtown and over the
Lions Gate bridge to the Sea To Sky Highway. The Sea to Sky is a
favorite with the sport bike crowd. The first 30 miles is fast, tight,
and twisty. No complaints so far. This picture is just up the road from
Squamish.
Another 30 miles gets us to Whistler, home of the 2010 Winter Olympics. |
